The former Wonchang Station building is a single-storey structure with a floor area of 112.04 ㎡. It was built in 1933 as a station on the Gyeongjeon Line, and began operating as an ordinary station of the South Joseon Railway Company when the Gyeongjeon Western Line between Gwangju and Yeosu opened on 20 December 1930. The roof consists of overlapping pyramidal hip roofs, with the waiting room built high and the station office low. The structure is of timber construction, with the exterior walls now finished in cement. The wayside station was closed, and as of 2012 repair work was under way. The station is planned to be made available for use by civic groups and local residents.
