Storehouse of Former Japanese Plantation in Balsan-ri, Gunsan
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This building was solidly constructed of reinforced concrete by a Japanese landlord in the Gunsan area to store valuables. An iron safe door imported from the United States is fitted at the entrance, and the windows are equipped with double locking devices. Because of this form, during the Korean War the People's Army stationed in Gunsan also used the building to detain right-wing figures from the Okgu area. It was a building used to store not only cash and documents but also numerous Korean paintings, calligraphic works, ceramics and other antiques illegally collected by the Japanese landlord, and it preserves well the history of the exploitation carried out by the Japanese.
