Former Jinhae Naval Port Command Headquarters
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Built in 1914, this building was constructed as the command headquarters of the Jinhae Naval Port Command, a Japanese naval base established at Jinhae during the Japanese colonial period, and it is now used as the command headquarters of the Republic of Korea Navy's Jinhae base. A two-storey-high entrance porch projects from the centre of the façade, above which square pilasters and a triangular pediment emphasise the building's frontal presence. Granite is used on the ground-floor exterior wall, giving an overall sense of stability, and the upper and lower lintels of the windows and the surrounds are elaborately decorated with red brick and white granite. The building illustrates the history of invasion, when the Jinhae area was used as a Japanese naval base.
