Yeongjujeongsa Lecture Hall and Yeongyangsa Shrine, Jeongeup
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Yeongjujeongsa was built in 1903 and Yeongyangsa in 1909. This is the site where Park Man-hwan, a Confucian scholar from Jeongeup active in the late Joseon period, built the lecture hall Yeongjujeongsa and the shrine Yeongyangsa, where he trained younger students and enshrined portraits of the Five Sages and Six Worthies (五聖六賢) of China. With the lecture hall placed in front and the shrine built on higher ground behind it, the complex as a whole forms a layout in the shape of the Chinese character for "two" (二). The lecture hall adopts a residential-type floor plan in pursuit of heating efficiency and rational use of space, clearly showing the characteristics of modern-period architecture.
