Yeongmojae Ritual House in Jinsan-dong, Jeongeup
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Built in 1915, this building is a modern-period jaesil, a house used for ancestral rites, with its gate house (daemungan-chae) and ritual hall (jaegak, 齋閣) arranged in a layout shaped like the Chinese character for "two" (二). A commemorative plaque (myeongjeongpan) honouring the filial conduct of Kim Deok-hong hangs in the gate house. The jaegak has a gyeopjip-type floor plan, with rooms arranged in two parallel rows, front and back: the front row has, from the right, a kitchen, an ondol (heated) room and a wooden-floored hall (maru), while the back row consists of an ondol room and a maru room. The gate house has a compound floor plan that integrates the function of a gojiksa, or caretaker's quarters, where the building's manager resided, reflecting the characteristics of modern-period architecture.
