Songjeong Station comprises one single-storey building with a floor area of 122.4㎡, and the railway extends 150m on each side, left and right. The section between Gyeongju and Pohang opened on 31 October 1918, and the section between Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongju opened on 16 December 1935. The Donghae Nambu Line (the southern section of the Donghae Line) was laid to transport marine products from the east coast and resources from the regions along its route. Songjeong Station began operating on 16 December 1934 as a simple, unstaffed station, and was upgraded to an ordinary station on 1 June 1941 (believed to be when the current station building was newly built and completed). Freight handling was discontinued in July 1976. Songjeong Station is a heritage site similar in form to Unsan and Danchon Stations, through which the appearance of 1940s station architecture can be examined.
