Dongchon Station is a single-storey building with a floor area of 176.65㎡. A station on the Daegu Line, it was built on 1 July 1938 during the project to upgrade the Daegu–Yeongcheon section to broad gauge. The original line was begun in February 1916 by the Joseon Jungang Railway Company, and the Daegu–Hayang section opened on 1 November of that year; the station began operating as an ordinary station on 1 November 1917, and the Hayang–Pohang section opened on 31 October 1918. The line was incorporated into the national railway on 1 July 1928, and in 1938 the Daegu–Yeongcheon section was upgraded to broad gauge, after which the station building was closed when the Daegu Line was rerouted. The structure is of wood; the ceiling of the waiting room is finished in a chevron shape like the Korean letter 'ㅅ', and the large gable over the waiting room contrasts distinctively with the small gable over the office — the office side appears to have been designed to give an unobstructed view of the platform. Among the registered small stations, it stands out for the artistic quality of its roof form. The station has been closed, and following redevelopment of the surrounding site (where an apartment complex is planned), there are plans to relocate and restore the building.
