구 한일은행 강경지점 · 舊 韓一銀行 江景支店

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis red-brick building, newly built in 1913, symbolises modern-era Ganggyeong. The bank first opened on 8 September 1911 and, on 17 November 1913, erected this new building and relocated to the present site. On 21 January 1931 it merged with Hoseo Bank and was renamed Dongil Bank; this was in turn changed to the Ganggyeong branch of Joheung Bank in October 1943, which then moved into a newly built branch at 51-1 Seochang-dong in November 1954. This building was afterwards used as the Jungang Reading Room and as Chungcheong Bank, and later served as a privately owned storehouse for salted seafood. It is now owned by Nonsan City and used as the Ganggyeong History Museum.
