This building served as the school building of Busan Jeil Public Commercial School, founded during the Japanese colonial period for the higher education of the children of Japanese residents in Busan. With a symmetrical floor plan, it has an entrance porch projecting from the centre of the façade, a distinctively shaped spire above the porch, vertical moulding on the walls, and long vertical windows arranged at regular intervals, giving the building a dignified overall elevation. It was newly built in 1927 and, from 1946, after liberation, has been used as the school building of Gyeongnam Commercial High School (at the time Gyeongnam Public Commercial Middle School, now Bukyung High School). There are records indicating that, after liberation, following the stationing of US forces, the building was used as a military hospital, but materials from before liberation are difficult to find, and it is thought that some changes were made to the building while it was in use as a school. For instance, the stairway at the central entrance was altered during its use as a school building, and the exterior brickwork was painted over to protect it. Even so, it can be said to have been preserved without major change.
