Headquarters Office of the Suwoongyo Religion, Daejeon
대전 수운교 본부사무실 · 大田 水雲敎 本部事務室

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krBuilt in 1929, this building served as the headquarters overseeing the affairs of Suwoongyo's believers and local branches. In the final years of the Japanese colonial period it was used as a public school classroom, after liberation as an office of the Taegeuk Underground Religious Federation, and during the Korean War as the brigade headquarters of the People's Army. Its distinguishing features are a porch with a single-bay Korean-style tiled roof at the centre, and walls where the upper, middle and lower lintels are clearly distinguished. The round eave-end tiles are carved in the shape of the character 水 (water), while the flat eave-end tiles bear the 'gung-eul' design (弓乙圖形), a pattern symbolising Suwoongyo.
