This is a model that Shinjin Motor Co. assembled and produced domestically after bringing in Toyota's Publica from Japan. A total of 2,005 units were produced between 1967 and 1971, around the time people were beginning to drive their own cars, and because it used little fuel it was mainly adopted as a private car by the urban middle class. Fitted with an air-cooled engine, it had to be rested frequently while driving to let the engine cool, and it was affectionately nicknamed the 'little car,' the 'red car' and the 'big-eyed car.' Of the three examples remaining in Korea today, this car is the oldest, and it holds great historical value as Korea's first domestically produced compact car and the first model of fuel-saving passenger car.
