The patriot Yun Bong-gil (1908–1932) bought this watch just after the induction ceremony of the Hanin Aegukdan (Korean Patriots' Corps) on 26 April 1932, and kept it until the morning he set out for Hongkou Park to carry out his mission, when he exchanged it for the watch belonging to Kim Ku. It is therefore a relic of both Yun Bong-gil and Kim Ku, and it carries great symbolic value as an object through which the patriotism and resolve for independence of the two men, as they faced their mission, can be appreciated. This gold pocket watch was made by the Waltham company. A small compass is attached to the end of the watch chain, and opening the cover, which bears a heart-shaped floral pattern in silver plating, reveals the twelve compass directions marked in Chinese characters. Specifications: diameter 45 mm; material: metal; period of manufacture: early 1900s (before 1932).
