This is a uniform of a reserve unit of the Liberation Army (Gwangbokgun), consisting of a top and bottom as one set. On 19 February 1945, the Military Affairs Department of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea enacted the "Regulations on the Military Uniform Style," which was promulgated and implemented following a State Council resolution. Until then there had been no fixed uniform, and Chinese-style military uniforms and insignia had been used; once the uniform regulations were established, the Liberation Army used and wore its own distinctive insignia and uniform. This uniform was discovered in 1972 in a safe at Seoul City Hall and was then donated to the Korea Military Academy, where it is now on display in the Army Museum. It is a representative relic of Liberation Army uniforms, and the only Liberation Army uniform discovered in Korea to date.
