KOGL Type 4Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

The Defense Bunker, Pocheon was built with round reinforcing bars spaced at intervals of about 20cm, forming reinforced-concrete walls roughly 90cm thick. The gun ports vary in size and shape, including horizontally elongated and square forms, and are wider and larger on the inside than on the outside. The bunker was built by the South around 1948, during a period of sharpening confrontation between North and South Korea, to prepare for any contingency that might arise from the standoff. It retains traces of combat from the Korean War (the 6·25 War), giving it considerable historical value.
