The Former Baekje Hospital was Busan's first modern-style private general hospital. Together with the then Busan Municipal Hospital and the Railway Hospital, it was one of the region's important medical institution buildings, and it is valuable in the history of modern medicine. The building combines two wings, built separately in February and December 1927, into a single structure. Its interior plan is made up of various rooms in rectangular and diamond shapes, and on the first to third floors, which date from the original construction, the wooden finishes — including wooden staircases, mouldings and other details — survive well in their original form.
