As the son-in-law of Son Byeong-hui, Bang Jeong-hwan cooperated in preparations for the March First Movement of 1919, and in 1923 he organised the Saekdonghoe, a society for children's culture, together with Go Han-seung and others, establishing and proclaiming 1 May as the first Children's Day. Until the day of his death in 1931, when he passed away leaving the words "I am leaving the children behind, so please take good care of them," he left behind a shining record of devotion to the welfare of children.
