Sobanjang (Tray-table Making) Workshop, Tongyeong

The Sobanjang (Tray-table Making) Workshop, Tongyeong, is a combined dwelling and workshop, uniting the main house of a residence with a craft workspace, and it serves as important academic material for understanding the life of traditional craft artisans in the Tongyeong region during the modern era. Architecturally, it is a rare example that combines the distinctive character of local vernacular housing with the original techniques of a somok — a joiner specialising in fine woodwork — and it clearly illustrates the formative process of modern-era workshop architecture.
