The Na Hwa-rang Birthplace, Gimcheon, is the house where Na Hwa-rang (real name Jo Gwang-hwan), one of the figures who came to represent Korean popular music after liberation, was born and grew up; it has kept its earlier appearance relatively well. At a time when the birthplaces of most musicians active in the same period have disappeared, its survival as an existing birthplace gives it value for preservation in terms of both music history and local history. Na Hwa-rang (1921–1983) left behind more than 500 songs over his lifetime, including 'Nineteen's Pure Love', 'The Collapsed Tower of Love' and 'Nillimambo', and released numerous records, making a great contribution to the spread and development of Korean popular song.
